Online CPE for Vet TechsOne of the intended outcomes of my Master's degree is to enhance my training company. In looking at how Vet Techs are obtaining their continuing education, it seemed that online options are becoming more popular. I focused my research project on identifying why technicians pursue online education and if this is a preferred method or a necessary method. The results led me to realize online offerings will likely need to be a part of my company but in-person training is equally important. | Cultural Sensitivity TrainingThe impetus for this course was the feeling that I have a unique approach to my emergency hospital clients due to my experience working with Native American cultures. The course uses a combination of self and group discovery, didactic, and reflection sections. The goal of this course is to introduce the veterinary team to an alternate way of processing client questions and treatment decisions in a way that values cultural differences. | Optimizing Anesthesia DeliveryThe focus of this project was the instructional design of a comprehensive course to increase the veterinary technician's role in anesthesia and pain management. The course focuses heavily on hands-on experience with most of the contact time being working with real-time anesthesia cases. There is a constructivist feel to the course with scaffolding and reflection playing a key role. The overall design follows the Dick and Carey design model. |
