ALF Poster- C.A.R.E.This was my first assignment for the program. The assignment was to create a visual representation of an effective adult learning facilitator (ALF). While this assignment doesn't directly pertain to veterinary medicine, this was my first chance to explore how I view my role as an educator. | Dewey ReflectionAfter reading Experience and Education, I found myself beginning to formulate an approach to teaching that I would not have thought about previously. I began to find my Progressive voice. Previously, I identified with the manager role of Behaviorism but after reading the work of John Dewey I realized that my role as a radiography lab instructor held several tools that I could improve to begin to see my role as facilitator rather than manager. | Palmer Reflection PaperI had the good fortune to read the Courage to Teach after reading Experience and Education by John Dewey (1938). My reflection after reading this book allowed me to further explore "My Journey as a College Professor" as the paper was titled. The biggest takeaway of this paper was that the classroom dynamic is one of dependency. In order for both the learners and the educator to move beyond their fear, they need to trust each other and allow for meaningful learning to occur. |
